According to reports, Toronto rapper Top5 was charged in connection to the murder of a 20-year-old man in late January.
Top5, whose real name is Hassan Ali, was charged with accessory to murder after the fact for the shooting of Hashim Omar Ali. Top5 was taken into custody on Saturday in Windsor, Ontario. He was also charged with two counts of failure to comply with probation as well as three counts for drug possession with trafficking purposes.
Top5's attorney John Silver said the rapper maintains his innocence but noted that “there’s still a lot of information surrounding this that we’re unaware of.” Silver added, “At this time, we’re still awaiting basic information surrounding this event and Mr. Ali’s involvement if any,”
Authorities said Hashim Omar Ali was shot on Jan 31 while trying to enter a parking garage. He was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
