A report from People where they spoke to a source with knowledge of the split, with the source alleging that West “is in that place of ‘if only,’ ‘if only I had done this.’” The source went on to say West is currently processing what has happened.
The source went on to say, “He thinks that the Presidential run was the straw that broke the camel's back. Before that, there was hope. After that, none. It cost him his marriage." It’s important to note that West made some comments that caused backlash during his presidential run, including a comment that referenced his father wanting to abort him, along with a comment about slavery being a choice.
