Star actor Daniel Kaluuya's breakout role came courtesy of the award-winning film Get Out. Despite being the lead actor in the movie, Kaluuya revealed to Graham Norton that he was never invited to the film's premiere.
Kaluuya explained that he was filming Black Panther during the Sundance Film Festival, but cleared his schedule in order to attend. However, the invite was never extended.
"They didn't invite me, bro. They didn't invite me," he said during the interview. "On the Sundance world premiere, I was in Atlanta because I was shooting [Black] Panther. I was chilling. I cleared my schedule. I was like, 'I really wanna do it.'"
After explaining that he received updates on the premiere from the comfort of his bed, he shrugged off the snub by saying, "that's the industry," before adding, "I don't ask questions. You don’t wanna be in a place that you don't feel wanted."
After nabbing 26 nominations for his performance in Get Out, Kaluuya still maintains a positive relationship with the film's director, writer, and producer Jordan Peele as he's currently in negotiations to co-star in Peele's next film.
Also, when asked about the Black Panther sequel, Kaluuya stated, "We're gonna have to honor [Chadwick Boseman] and give as much to his legacy as he gave to us."
Previously, Kaluuya's interview on The Breakfast Club reignited the feud between Charlamagne tha God and his Judas and the Black Messiah co-star LaKeith Stanfield.
