Part 12: Ernest Lee Thomas on Meeting Michael Jackson, Awkward Phone Calls with MJ

In this clip, Ernest Lee Thomas spoke about his downward spiral into drugs after "What's Happening Now!!" was cancelled after three seasons, and he detailed the "hell" that he went through during that time. Ernest even revealed that Muhammad Ali tried to stage an intervention with him, but Ernest said that he lied to him about relapsing. It was after he was drunk at a stand-up show in New York that he prayed to get off of the drugs, and Ernest credits God for helping him stay clean for 30 years. Moving along, Ernest spoke about his co-star Fred "Rerun" Berry's death, and he stated that he really misses him. Ernest also detailed meeting Michael Jackson through Muhammad Ali, but not being able to strike up a friendship with him, which you can hear more about above.
