Many people have taken to apps like Tinder and more to find their significant other, or simply people to just spend a moment with. While hookup culture has risen due to apps, so have the dangers that come with it, like assault and more. Now, Tinder has revealed that users will soon be able to run background checks on people they possibly want to date after matching on their platform.
Tinder recently announced an investment into Garbo, which is a nonprofit that allows people to run background checks with the person’s first name and phone number or their full name.
The background checks will not be free, and the brand will reportedly begin testing the background check feature on the platform in the next few months. It was noted that once the option is implemented on Tinder, it will be put on other platforms owned by the Match US Group, which include Hinge, OkCupid, and more. Stay tuned for more updates.
