Dancehall DJ Tommy Lee Sparta was recently sentenced to three years for illegal possession of a firearm and two years for illegal possession of ammunition. While the sentences will run concurrently, he may be facing more serious legal trouble after his illegal gun was linked to the murders of two well-known Dancehall personalities of the British Link Up Crew in 2019.
Tommy Lee's gun was linked to the murders of Roy Fowl and Oney British, two party promoters who funded the popular British Link Up entertainment events in Jamaica and the United Kingdom.
Roy Fowl was shot to death at a party in February 2019. A month later, Oney British was gunned down. A ballistics investigation found that the cartridge casings and projectiles from both murder scenes matched the gun that was seized from Tommy Lee in December 2020.
Tommy Lee's lawyer denied that the DJ's involvement in the murders and police have yet to release a statement or charge Tommy Lee for the murders. The firearm has also been connected to three non-fatal shootings.
