Recently, the Minnesota Department of Corrections released a new mugshot for convicted killer Derek Chauvin after being found guilty of the murder of George Floyd. Now, it has been revealed when Chauvin will face sentencing for the tragic death of Floyd.
Derek Chauvin was facing three charges—second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter, and third-degree murder in relation to the death of Floyd. It was noted that he was convicted of all three charges, and now his sentencing is scheduled to take place on June 16, 2021. The sentencing comes over a year after the former officer attempted to arrest Floyd before the man’s life ultimately was ended.
CNN noted that Chauvin is possibly facing 75 years in prison. The second-degree murder charge finds him facing 40 years, while the maximum number of years for the other charges finds him facing 10 and 25 years. Since Chauvin reportedly has no prior criminal history, this will more than likely affect the amount of time he actually receives. Stay tuned for more updates.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections released a new mugshot of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin after he was found guilty of the murder of George Floyd on Tuesday (April 20).
Chauvin was then booked into the Oak Park Heights maximum security prison, where he will stay as he awaits sentencing on murder and manslaughter convictions.
