Recently, Elon Musk sat down with the founder and chairman of the X Prize Foundation for scientific discovery, and the two spoke candidly about the excursions SpaceX has been attempting to make to Mars. Musk noted the journey to Mars is going to be a tough one at the beginning for travelers. Musk said, “You might die, it’s going to be uncomfortable and probably won’t have good food.” Musk then said it’s an “arduous and dangerous journey where you may not come back alive.”

From there, Musk went on to say, “Honestly, a bunch of people will probably die in the beginning,” but went on to say the trip could be “a glorious adventure and it will be an amazing experience.” Musk then laughed, saying the trip is “not for everyone.” Watch above at the 13-minute mark.
