There was speculation surrounding Juice WRLD's death that he took a handful of pills to hide them from police who boarded and searched a private plane he was in at Chicago's Midway International Airport. However, Chris Long, Juice WRLD"s photographer, who also on the plane and took a gun charge for Juice, spoke out on Twitter to clear up any rumors.
He wrote, "I can’t do this anymore. I give up. Thanks for all the messages. I’m trying so hard. But if I can’t do it let’s make sure some things are clear. J did not swallow a bunch of pills because the police [were] at the airport. We gave no f*cks about them being there. He could have flushed them down the toilet if he cared. J was just hooked bad. The amount he took daily was absurd and he hid how much he really took from mostly everyone. Everyone around him tried really hard to get him to slow down. When he agreed to rehab it was because he wanted to lower his tolerance. He didn’t want to stop."
Long went on to explain that Juice WRLD agreed to go to rehab the month that he died, and he added that he would try to distract Juice with other things, like riding dirt bikes or playing paintball. However, Long says Juice WRLD would go back to doing pills as soon as he hit the studio each night. Long also stated that he started testing the pills that Juice would buy to see if they had anything in them, presumably Fentanyl, but that didn't deter the large amounts that he would take.
