Meek Mill’s push to advocate for those who have been affected by the criminal justice system has been strong, especially since being released from the system years ago. The rapper previously assisted in helping free a man who claimed innocence for a crime that found him doing 29 years in prison, and now the rapper is calling out the New York State legislature for a bill related to parolees.
The bill in question, the ‘Less Is More’ act, would eliminate incarceration for technical parole violations, as well as help with reforms to the criminal justice system. Via Twitter, Meek Mill said, “ I am calling on NYS Legislature to pass the Less is More Act before they leave town next week! We need meaningful parole reform in NYS now!” The rapper also tagged members of the NY State Senate as well as the speaker of the New York State Assembly in his post.
From there, New York State Senator Brian Benjamin responded to the Philly rapper’s address, saying, “Yes! We need to pass #LessIsMoreNY now — thank you @MeekMill for the support!” Take a look above.
