Update 06/06/2021 4:00pm:

The tragic passing of Mac Miller in 2018 due to a fatal overdose sent shockwaves through the music community across the world. The rapper was mourned heavily, mainly because he was finally transitioning into a new space musically with his talents. Following his passing, three drug dealers who were accused of selling to Miller were indicted in 2019 on federal drug distribution charges. Now, news surfaced noting that the three dealers have reportedly received a trial date.

United States Attorney Nick Hanna spoke on the revelation, saying, “These defendants allegedly continued to sell narcotics after Mr. McCormick’s death with full knowledge of the risks their products posed to human life.” One of the three men, 28-year-old Cameron Pettit, reportedly gave Miller counterfeit pills that were laced with fentanyl, which allegedly contributed to his passing.

Hanna continued saying, “It has become increasingly common for us to see drug dealers peddling counterfeit pharmaceuticals made with fentanyl. As a consequence, fentanyl is now the No. 1 cause of overdose deaths in the United States.” Pettit along with the other two men are currently being held without bail, and their trial date has been set for November 16, 2021.

According to TMZ, a third person was arrested in connection to Mac Miller's overdose death last year.

L.A. law enforcement confirmed that Stephen "Stevie" Walter was arrested on Monday (September 23) on a charge of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. Walter is currently on supervised release following a 10-year federal drug trafficking sentence.

Authorities say Cameron James Pettit, who was arrested last month, contacted Walter to obtain ten Percocet pills for Mac Miller. Walter then sent a runner, believed to be Ryan Reavis, to deliver the pills to Pettit. Reavis was arrested in Lake Havasu this week and police say they found firearms, prescription pills, and a prescription pad in his home.
