NBA YoungBoy's lawyers filed a motion for a pre-trial release of the rapper on Monday (June 7), as they claim that that they were not contacted for a voluntary surrender due to a deliberate attempt to tarnish the rapper's brand.
Court documents obtained by The Shade Room show that NBA YoungBoy's lawyers stated, "The only evidence of their motivation behind this decision is the title of the operation, 'NEVER FREE AGAIN,' a clear attack on to defendant’s brand 'Never Broke Again' and related legal entities."
YoungBoy is being charged with "possession of a firearm by a convicted felon" and possession of an unregistered firearm, which stem from a federal indictment linked to his September arrest. His lawyers also argued that there is no evidence to show that the firearms belong to YoungBoy or that they were used illegally.
The lawyers state in the documents, "There is no testimony or other evidence as to how the firearm came to be inside that vehicle or how long it had been in the vehicle. Nor have any fingerprints, DNA testing, or other forensics been performed which would demonstrate Mr. Gaulden knowingly possessed that firearm at any time."
They added that the presence of FBI agents, 3 LAPD vehicles, eleven uniformed and plain clothes officers from the LAPD and Baton Rouge FBI agents, a task force officer, and a helicopter were massive and wildly unnecessary militaristic display of force and intimidation."
