Bryce Michael Williams, 27, was the last of four men to be sentenced for setting a Minneapolis police station on fire during the protests that erupted in the city following the death of George Floyd.
Williams, a former college basketball player and social media influencer, was sentenced to two years and three months behind bars and ordered to pay $12 million in restitution for the damage. During the sentencing on Monday (June 7), US District Judge Patrick Schiltz called Williams "a good person who made a terrible mistake," which led to him giving Williams a lower sentence than in federal guidelines.
Williams, who posted videos of himself and others rioting to his TikTok account, was sentenced alongside Davon De-Andre Turner, Dylan Shakespeare Robinson, and Branden Michael Wolfe, who were given sentences ranging from three to four years each. They were also ordered to help pay the restitution.
