Shaun King responded to Samaria Rice, the mother of 12-year-old Tamir Rice who was gunned down by police in 2014, who accused King of fundraising off her son's death. King also publicized a conversation he had with Rice, who claims everything King said was "toxic." 

King has since taken down the podcast about his conversation with Rice, and he released a statement via Instagram, which was reposted by The Shade Room. King told viewers that his staff at the Grassroots Law Project had been working for weeks in Cleveland with the Tamir Rice Foundation to get "justice and accountability for Tamir." 

Six days ago, Shaun said he and three members of his team, along with Samaria and two other people from her team, had a meeting, which he said went "great." Shaun explained that he addressed Samaria for calling him out three months ago when he defended his friend and fellow activist Tamika Mallory, who was being publicly slammed by Samaria. After discussing things, Shaun said he and Samaria saw a path forward, and he offered the help of his team. from there, Shaun said that their team members worked together with their respective attorneys on mapping out a plan of action. 

Shaun then added that things "imploded" when Samaria or someone she was working with stopped everything and stated that Shaun is an "imposter" who is "clout chasing."

Samaria Rice, the mother of 12-year-old Tamir Rice who was gunned down by police in 2014, issued a scathing response to Shaun King after the activist publicized details of a recent conversation they had.

King published a record of a conversation he had with Samaria on Tuesday for his blog, "The North Star with Shaun King." In the post, he highlighted the fundraising he did for Samaria in the wake of her son's death. Samaria questioned King's motives in her response before adding that she never gave him permission to raise money for her family.

Samaria also referenced previous reports that accused King of embezzling thousands of dollars by exploiting the death of Tamir Rice when $60,000 in donations couldn't be accounted for.

"Why do you think it's so important to tell folks we had a conversation?" she asked in her Instagram post. "Well we talked and everything that was said was very toxic and uncomfortable for me to hear that you raised additional money and then say you did not want to bother me. Personally, I don't understand how you sleep at night. I never gave you permission to raise nothing. Along with the United States, you robbed me for the death of my son."

She continued by calling King an imposter and questioned his race.

"You gave me a cop and donut conversation. All lies Shaun, please stop thinking we on the same page," Samaria said. "As a white man acting black, you are [an] imposter that can not be trusted. My son was 12 years old, and DOJ needs to reopen his case period. Tamir Human rights was violated, why would you so ever make it about you? You are a selfish self centered person and God will deal with you White man."

Shaun King's post has since been taken down.
