Cardi B isn't the only artist that provided a shock during her performance at the 2021 BET Awards on Sunday. Lil Nas X also performed his hit, "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)," and paid homage to Michael Jackson's "Remember The Time."
The "MONTERO" music video sparked much controversy over its imagery and last night's performance offered another taboo moment. At the end of the performance, Lil Nas X shared a passionate kiss with a male dancer.
Unsurprisingly, Lil Nas X was met with negative comments from social media users, including one who wrote, "DONT USE AFRICAN CULTURE FOR S**** LIKE THIS!!!! RESPECT OUR ANCESTORS."
"Y'all really like to pretend homosexuality didn't exist in african culture," Lil Nas X responded.
Shortly after the performance, Diddy tweeted about the moment and applauded Lil Nas X.
"Lil Nas X did that!!" Diddy wrote. "Be fearless!!!"
