Update 06/28/2021 11:29pm:
According to reports, the autopsy report shows that John McAfee died by suicide in a Spanish prison. The initial coroner's report says McAfee hanged himself in his prison cell but his family is requesting a second autopsy to confirm.
“His last words to me were, ‘I love you and I will call you in the evening.’ Those words are not words of somebody who is suicidal,” his widow Janice McAfee said. “All John wanted to do was spend his remaining years fishing and drinking. He did not deserve to die in a filthy prison, like a caged animal.”

Antivirus software pioneer John McAfee was found dead in his Barcelona prison cell Wednesday after he was cleared to be extradited to the United States on tax evasion charges. Law enforcement is currently investigating the death but believes McAfee committed suicide.
The founder of the computer security company, McAfee, was arrested in October and had been awaiting extradition prior to his death. The Spanish High Court had agreed to extradite McAfee just hours before his apparent suicide.
McAfee was arrested in Spain after he was charged in a 10-count indictment from Tennessee. The software tycoon allegedly failed to pay taxes on millions of dollars in income from 2014 to 2018. McAfee reportedly earned the income from speaking engagements, selling his personal story for a documentary, and doing consulting work. McAfee was facing 30 years in prison for his tax evasion charges.
In addition, he was separately charged in an indictment from Manhattan for allegedly defrauding bitcoin investors out of $13 million in two pump and dump schemes.
