According to reports, sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson will not run at the Tokyo Olympics after being left off the U.S. relay list for the 4x100 event.

While Richardson's positive marijuana test kept her from competing in the 100-meter dash, there were still hopes that she would take the track for the 4x100 relay.

In a statement, USATF said it was "incredibly sympathetic toward Sha'Carri Richardson's extenuating circumstances" adding the organization  "fully agrees" that the international drug policy should be revised. "So while our heartfelt understanding lies with Sha'Carri, we must also maintain fairness for all of the athletes who attempted to realize their dreams by securing a place on the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team," the statement concluded.
