A cop in upstate New York has been placed on leave after he was seen on-camera punching a woman he was arresting directly in her throat, which planted her on the ground.
The police were dispatched to a Walmart in East Syracuse, where a fight was reportedly taking place between women on July 4. The cop in the footage—Rory Spain, was seen trying to separate the fighting parties and ultimately restraining the woman he ended up punching—Tyreana Edmonds with handcuffs. The cop tried to lead Edmonds away from the melee, but Edmonds tried to bite him. From there, the cop could be seen balling up his fist and flat-out punching Edmonds, causing her to hit the ground hard.
Because of the incident, Spain and the cops present at Walmart are facing multiple charges. Edmonds is reportedly facing a 2nd-degree attempted assault for her alleged biting of Spain. Take a look above.
