Police have arrested and charged a 22-year-old man for the murder of Columbus rapper Boog The Bandit.

In May, 26-year-old Boog The Bandit (real name Courtney Bruce) and a 25-year-old were in a car when a group of men shot at the car during an attempted robbery. The late rapper suffered a gunshot wound and managed to walk to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Kyson Murphy has been charged with murder and aggravated robbery and is currently being held at Franklin County Jail.

Ohio rapper Boog The Bandit was shot and killed in Columbus after an attempted robbery on May 20.

The 26-year-old, whose real name is Courtney Nicole Bruce, was reportedly sitting in a car with one other person when a group of armed men approached them. A confrontation between the groups resulted in several shots being fired.

After the shooting, the rapper walked to the hospital and checked herself in. However, Boog The Bandit died from her injuries shortly after being admitted.

The rising rapper released three singles -- "Hot Topic," "Risky," and "Heart Away" -- in November 2020 and February 2021, all of which generated over 9,161 views on YouTube. HipHopDX reported that Boog The Bandit was also preparing for a collaboration with fellow Ohio native Trippie Redd prior to her death.

Police are encouraging anyone with information on the shooting to come forwards as they currently have no leads on a potential suspect.
