New video footage showed the moment a Louisville first-grader was dragged by a school bus for several blocks as a former school bus driver's civil trial began this week.

In May 2015, Ally Rednour's pink backpack got stuck in between the bus's double doors as she was exiting the vehicle. Without noticing the 6-year-old girl, Melinda Sanders pulls off as Rednour tried to get her attention. The young girl tried running alongside the bus before falling and being dragged for several blocks.

Sanders finally noticed Rednour after telling another student to sit down. After realizing she was dragging one of her passengers, Sanders is heard saying, "Oh my God, Oh my God!"

Rednour was left with severe abrasions and nerve damage as a result of the incident. She also required multiple surgeries and was left with PTSD.

Sanders was promptly fired from her job and expressed her apologies for failing to follow protocol and check that Rednour was safely out of the bus during her civil trial.

"It means a lot to me, and I wish…that I had followed that, that day," she said. "I can't take that day back."

Rednour's family has sued Sanders and Jefferson County Public Schools for unspecified damages.
