A man and woman in Maine were arrested after police discovered a brick of cocaine disguised as cake in their car, according to the DEA.
The information was given to the DEA by anonymous sources, and agents stopped a vehicle driving along I-295 this past Tuesday upon their arrival into Gardiner, Maine. Via a news release, the DEA noted a drug-sniffing dog was used in the search, and the dog reportedly led them to illegal drugs in the car. The DEA reportedly found $1,900 in cash along with four pounds of cocaine in the trunk.
MDEA commander Peter Arno said that some of the cocaine found was pressed into a brick shape and wrapped up to appear as if it was cake. Along with that, Arno noted that the cocaine more than likely made its way into the country wrapped to appear as if it was cake, and they are cross-examining seizures with other departments to check where the cocaine stems from.
The estimated street value for the cake-disguised cocaine is reportedly $200,000. The suspects arrested in the situation were charged with aggravated trafficking. If convicted, they are both facing up to 20 years in prison. Take a look above.
