Former Marshalltown High School associate principal William Terry reportedly killed himself in the basement of his Ames, Iowa home on Thursday (July 22) as police arrived to execute an arrest warrant amid a probe into allegations that he sexually exploited a student.

According to a local ABC affiliate, a former someone reported the allegations against Terry to police on July 6. Two days later on July 8, former Marshalltown Middle School teacher Adam Edgington, 42, fatally shot himself in his car a day after he was busted for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old student.

Former Marshalltown High School gym teacher Mark Esquivel was embroiled in another scandal on June 30 when the 26-year-old was arrested for allegedly trying to solicit sex from a 17-year-old. Esquivel was charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee.

Marshalltown Community School District Superintendent Dr. Theron Schutte addressed the string of incidents involving the three men in a statement, which read, "The District will also be providing additional training on staff ethics and responsibilities, and is reviewing the curriculum to ensure all students are informed about reporting — and empowered to seek help — if a concerning situation arises."
