According to TMZ, the New Orleans Pelicans' center Jaxson Hayes was arrested after an alleged violent altercation with police following a domestic violence disturbance call.

Police arrived at the residence early Wednesday morning and attempted to enter the home. Hayes, the No. 8 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, refused to grant them entrance which sparked an altercation between Hayes and one of the officers.

The brawl broke out and continued even while Hayes was tasered in the midst of everything. Both Hayes and the officer reportedly required medical attention after the scuffle. While Hayes was treated for minor injuries, the officer's condition hasn't been disclosed.

The former Texas Longhorn was booked and charged with felony battery on a police officer as authorities continue investigating the alleged domestic violence incident.

The Pelicans have addressed the situation and said in a statement:

“We have been made aware of the incident involving Jaxson Hayes. We are working in conjunction with the NBA and Jaxson’s representatives to gather more information and will have no further comment at this time.”
