Update 08/01/2021 10:28am:
Previously, a petition was launched by Dr. Patrick Graham, who pushed to get a New York street named after the legendary rapper whose presence once graced the city. Graham went on to say, “[DOOM] still inspires many young people to view the potential of everyday life. Long Beach should be proud of its native son and honor him and his legacy on a street sign. Just as important, the city should embrace the unity Mr. Dumile represents for generations to come."
Now, it has been revealed that a street in Long Beach, New York, was named after MF DOOM. The sign is located at the Riverside Blvd and E. Hudson Street intersection and says “KMD—MF DOOM Way” under the present signs. Long Beach city manager Donna Gayden spoke on the matter, saying, “MF DOOM left an indelible mark on the music industry and on the lives of people across the globe. Long Beach is proud to bestow this honor in his memory and proud that he [once] called our City home.” According to reports, the late London-born rapper was raised in Long Beach, New York.
