A high school custodian in Oregon is in police custody after fessing up to planning a mass shooting at the school where he's employed.
Kristopher Clay, 24, allegedly went to the Medford Police Department and told officers he was “having homicidal thoughts with plans to carry them out.” According to police, Clay was taken to the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center and placed in protective custody in the behavioral health unit.
After securing search warrants, authorities found a stockpile of weapons and ammunition, in addition to tactical gear and written material, in several locations associated with the 24-year-old.
Clay, a custodian at South Medford High School, was prohibited from possessing firearms after a court found him to be a potential danger to himself and others. However, “the investigation revealed he obtained firearms through various channels,” MPD officials said in the statement.
Clay has been charged with:
Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree
Attempted Assault in the 1st Degree
Two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
Tampering with Physical Evidence
