Nicki Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, has agreed to a plea deal after failing to register as a sex offender when he moved to California with the rap star.
According to legal documents, Petty is expected to receive a lesser sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to one count of failing to register. Petty was facing a maximum of ten years plus a lifetime of supervised release, but may now receive a mandatory minimum of five years of supervised release.
Petty was charged for failing to register in March 2020, when he and Nicki Minaj moved to California. His sex offender status stems from a 1995 conviction for first-degree attempted rape, a crime for which he served nearly four years in prison. He may still receive prison time depending on how the judge weighs his criminal past.
