Multiple sources confirm that producer Chucky Thompson lost his battle with COVID-19 and passed away Monday.

Thompson was a founding member of Bad Boy's legendary production team, The Hitmen. The producer crafted hits for The Notorious B.I.G. ("Big Poppa"), Nas ("One Mic"), Faith Evans ("You Used To Love Me" & "Soon As I Get Home"), and Total ("Can't You See"). He also worked with other A-list artists, such as Tevin Campbell, New Edition, TLC, Busta Rhymes, Juvenile, and Mary J. Blige.

"There is nothing I can write that will take away this pain," wrote Jay-Z engineer Young Guru. "I have to say RIP to my mentor, my big brother, the man who changed my life forever. You were the kindest person the world has ever seen. You were the most gifted musician I have ever been around. You treated my like family from day one. You made a point to the labels that I had to fly to New York with you on ever session. You put me in rooms with Biggie. I will forever be in your debt, and I will forever be your little brother. This one hurts so bad I can even explain it. RIP @chucklife365 there will never be another you!!!!"

Prior to becoming one of Diddy's "Hitmen," Thompson got his start as a member of Go-Go music legend Chuck Brown's band, The Soul Searchers. Aside from music, he also made a History Channel documentary about the Tuskegee Airmen and was working on a film about the Go-Go music scene in his native Washington, D.C.

Chucky Thompson was also reportedly working on Diddy's upcoming Off The Grid Volume 1 project, which is scheduled to be released in September 2021.
