According to reports, a Texas man was convicted of killing a San Antonio police officer in what was referred to as an “ambush-style” attack in 2016, this past Friday.
31-year-old Otis McKane was given the death penalty by jury in Bexar County, following an eight-hour deliberation. McKane was found guilty of capital murder of 50-year-old detective Benjamin Marconi. It was noted that extra officers were present for the sentencing after McKane reportedly hit a bailiff in the face, with his elbow.
The incident that found Marconi being the target of McKane happened while the officer was writing a ticket on the street during an overtime shift. McKane reportedly told reporters “I lashed out at someone who didn’t deserve it” due to being upset at the courts over a custody battle involving his son.
