On Tuesday, Russell Westbrook held his first press conference as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers and opened up about the surreal feeling of playing for such a storied franchise and being a Los Angeles native.
Russ explained how his role with Los Angeles is to lighten the load for LeBron James, who's entering his 19th season in the league. He understood the kinks that will need to be ironed out for him and LeBron to co-exist on the floor. However, Westbrook said plainly: "Bron is one of the best players to play this game... my job is to make his game easy for him."
He also seemed eager to play with the group of veterans the Lakers have assembled this offseason. "The roster is great," said Westbrook. "A bunch of guys I've known. I'm always looking at the roster and seeing how I can make other guys better."
