After the Los Angeles Lakers ' disappointing season, the experiment with Dennis Schröder as a starting point guard for a championship team failed quite miserably, specifically for Dennis.

It was reported earlier during the season that Schröder declined a 4-year, $84 million extension with the Lakers. Schröder expected to not only have a better season than he did but also anticipated teams knocking down his door to sign him to an even larger contract than what the Lakers were offering.

However, that didn't shape up to be the case, and Shröder found his stock in free agency plummet. As a result, Schröder was forced into a situation where he had to sign a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics in hopes of playing himself into another possibly lucrative contract.
