NBA free agent Isaiah Thomas broke down crying following an 81-point performance in a Pro-Am game earlier this week. Video footage showed the former MVP candidate rush to the locker room and place a towel over his face as he became emotional.
"These n***** gave up on me!" Thomas said to himself. "They gave up on me!"
After the video clip went viral, various professional athletes reached out to encourage Thomas. Pro stars, such as LeBron James, Bradley Beal, and Gervonta Davis, reached out to congratulate Thomas on his performance and progress since recovering from a career-altering hip injury.
Thomas commented on the video clip on Twitter and explained why he became emotional. He stated that his tears were a result of his work to come back to MVP form and he didn't want anyone to feel sorry for him.
"I wasn't showing y'all a snippet of me being emotional so y'all can feel sorry 4 me. Hell no!!!" he wrote. "My life is GREAT!! I was showing y'all that to see what it feels like to give everything you have to something you love and to see it slowly coming back where it's suppose to be TMC. That emotion was tied up from the last 4yrs battling every single day!!! I ain't talking about the 'league' giving up on me lol. THE WORLD GAVE UP ON ME & WAS SH***ING ON ME WHILE I WAS DOWN AND OUT!! When you love something you'll do whatever it takes to get that!!! I'm back."
Isaiah Thomas finished fifth in MVP voting following a career season with the Boston Celtics in 2016-2017. However, the star guard suffered a hip injury and has had brief stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, and New Orleans Pelicans as he attempted to revive his career.
The two-time All-Star is still currently a free agent.
