Evalena Flores, the mother of Emonte and Eric Morgan, who were charged in the killing of 29-year-old Chicago Police Officer Ella French, was arrested while trying to visit Emonte at a hospital on Tuesday (August 10).
Flores livestreamed herself trying to see Emonte at the Advocate of Christ Medical Center, but two city cops and a hospital public safety officer stopped her from entering his room. According to the Chicago Tribune, Flores kicked the hospital worker in the groin and resisted arrest. She was charged with battery, resisting a peace officer, and criminal trespass.
This comes after Flores uploaded a video to social media where she defended her sons, stating, "There is another side and my boys’ side is not being told right now. I cannot speak too much on it, but I will say this: Don’t believe everything you hear and see. It’s fictitious. And there is another side. My boys are not monsters." She added, "We fear our police here, unfortunately. We fear them. We don’t believe in them. We don’t trust them. They get behind us, our hearts drop, we scared. That’s just the reality of it."
