According to reports, the Brooklyn Nets want to continue the veteran arms race with the Los Angeles Lakers by considering acquiring Kevin Love from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Nets are looking at Love as a possible option to bolster their front line and possibly fulfill the role they envisioned LaMarcus Aldridge playing last season before his sudden retirement due to health issues. Brooklyn currently has DeAndre Jordan, Blake Griffin, and Nicolas Claxton on the roster, but Love could add a more consistent stretch option to their pool of big men.
However, K-Love remains under contract with the Cavs for the next two seasons and is slated to earn $31 million next season and nearly $29 million in 2022-23. At the moment, Love isn't considering a buyout. That would mean the Nets need to put together a trade package for Love which could be tricky considering his massive contract. Nevertheless, with Cleveland acquiring power forward Lauri Markkanen from Chicago on Friday, who has a similar skillset to Love, only much younger, could make Cleveland more welcoming of trade talks
