Update 09/10/2021 12:06pm:

Previously, it was revealed that Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty struck a plea deal for failing to register as a sex offender. Petty was previously arrested in March 2021 after he was indicted for failing to register as a sex offender in California. After the arrest, Petty pleaded not guilty, and was ultimately released on $100,000 bail. Now, news surfaced noting that Petty has pleaded guilty to not registering as a sex offender in the state of California.

Petty reportedly pleaded guilty during a virtual hearing that went down on September 9, and now Minaj’s husband could be facing up to 10 years in prison along with lifetime supervised release.

News of this comes after Minaj and her husband were named in a lawsuit by the alleged rape victim, who says the couple has been pressuring her to call back her claims from the 1995 incident. Along with that, Petty reportedly filed a lawsuit against the State of New York for not notifying him about his sex offender hearing over a decade ago. Petty claims the state forged his signature on his previous sex offender registry as well.

Original 08/06/2021 7:12pm:

Nicki Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, had agreed to a plea deal after failing to register as a sex offender when he moved to California with the rap star.

According to legal documents, Petty is expected to receive a lesser sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to one count of failing to register. Petty was facing a maximum of ten years plus a lifetime of supervised release but may now receive a mandatory minimum of five years of supervised release.

Petty was charged for failing to register in March 2020, when he and Nicki Minaj moved to California. His sex offender status stems from a 1995 conviction for first-degree attempted rape, a crime for which he served nearly four years in prison. He may still receive prison time depending on how the judge weighs his criminal past.
