Aaliyah's uncle and manager recently sat down with Dr. Oz to discuss his new ventures and the life and career of his niece.
During his interview, Barry Hankerson was asked about Aaliyah and R. Kelly's relationship. The record producer and founder of Blackground Records maintained that he "didn't have a clue" and was "completely ignorant to it."
However, Dr. Oz followed up by asking if he felt other family members were aware of the secret relationship. Hankerson stated his belief that other family members knew before singling out Aaliyah's mother.
"I think my sister knew a lot more than what we thought she knew," Hankerson said before the teaser clip concluded.
Hankerson's interview with Dr. Oz wasn't the first time he broke his silence on the affair between R. Kelly and Aaliyah. Last month, he explained the relationship's impact on his family to Rickey Smiley.
The interview also wasn't the first time Aaliyah's mother was portrayed as knowing more about her daughter's affair with R. Kelly. In VladTV's interview with R. Kelly's ex, Lisa Van Allen, she claimed the mother was also romantically involved with the R&B singer.
