According to reports, LiAngelo Ball has signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Charlotte Hornets, which will likely see him play for the team's G League affiliate, the  Greensboro Swarm.

Ball is coming off a solid showing this offseason when he played for the Hornets' NBA Summer League team and averaged 9.6 points and 2.0 rebounds in five games. In his breakout game during the summer league, LiAngelo knocked down five three-pointers.

Despite not making the training camp roster, Gelo clearly gained respect from the Hornets coaching staff. Assistant coach Jay Triano said Gelo is a “great kid. Love him. He was at the facility practicing everyday for two months to play in the Summer League. Shows a ton of character. He can shoot it, great feel, knack for scoring.”

Head coach James Borrego told reporters that Ball "performed well and opened eyes and played at a higher level than I expected." If the Hornets bring him up on the main roster, Gelo would be playing alongside his younger brother and reigning NBA Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball.
