Kevin Garnett debunked one of the NBA's most infamous trash-talking tales in a recent interview with GQ. Nearly 10 years ago, trash talk between Kevin Garnett and Carmelo Anthony spilled into a near-physical altercation in the tunnel area.

While Garnett played for the Boston Celtics and Carmelo played for the rival New York Knicks, the two went back and forth during a hotly contested game in which KG allegedly told Melo his then-wife, La La Anthony, tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios.

In his feature story with GQ, the NBA Hall of Famer was asked about his reputation as a ruthless trash talker. During the discussion, Garnett took the time to debunk the rumor that he made the Cheerios statement to Carmelo.

"I've never said anything about anyone's family," Garnett said. "I've never said anything to Melo about La La. I'm a Frosted Flakes man. I'm not a Honey Nut Cheerios guy. I never knew where that came from. Let me clear that up."

La La also addressed the rumor in her 2014 book, The Love Playbook. La La also claimed KG never made the remark and questioned how the rumor circulated. She also added that Garnett and Melo were on good terms following the near-altercation.

"Kevin Garnett in fact had never said that I tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios," she said. "I tried to figure out how this big lie was turned into a media firestorm. I still can't answer that one. Melo and Kevin are cool today. And now it's nothing but a faint memory."
