HBO released a trailer for its upcoming documentary on the late rapper DMX on Friday. Titled, DMX: Don't Try to Understand, the film documents the rapper on tour after his release from prison for tax evasion in 2019.
The trailer chronicles X's It's Dark and Hell Is Hot 20th Anniversary tour as the rapper attempts to deal with obstacles in life following his prison release. Various fans explain their connection to the late rapper, while the upcoming film shows DMX encouraging and mentoring the fans he comes into contact with.
DMX served a year in prison after pleading guilty to evading $1.7 million in taxes between 2002 and 2005 in November of 2017. The ensuing tour would be his last before his unfortunate passing in April 2021.
Directed by Christopher Frierson and executive produced by Bill Simmons, DMX: Don't Try to Understand will be premiere on HBO Max on Nov. 25.
