Man Reportedly Fatally Shot by Co-Worker on His First Day on the Job

A man was reportedly fatally shot by his co-worker on what officials say was his first day on the job. 

According to authorities, the man was shot just after midnight at the Samuel Associated Tube Group in Pinson, AL. The victim, John Eric Cole, 29, was shot several times in the back and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The suspect, Dexter Rashad Walker, 34, fled the scene but was later identified by other co-workers. The two men reportedly knew one another outside of the job and had a legal dispute that dated back at least a year ago. After initially fleeing, Walker returned to the scene and turned himself into the police. 

Walker was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond. He is charged with murder.
