Lil Mama created one of the most infamous VMA moments when she crashed the stage during Alicia Keys and Jay-Z's 2009 performance of their hit record, "Empire State of Mind."

Years since the incident, Lil Mama has said she's tried reaching out to both artists to explain herself but has not heard back from either. In an upcoming Drink Champs episode, Alicia Keys gave her take on the incident and claimed she was too focused to even notice Lil Mama had joined them on stage.

"All I know is we were on stage. Jay was here, I was here," she explained. "In my head, I was such a gorilla at the time. My eyes, I was like, 'This is what's happening, I'm gonna destroy this record tonight!' That's all I had in my head."

Alicia Keys went on to reveal that she wasn't made aware of what Lil Mama did until Jay-Z approached her backstage.

"Somehow, however she got over here, I didn't even bear witness to," she continued. "The whole show, I was ice...so focused on making it amazing. I went backstage and Jay was like, 'So, you ain't see that?' And I was like, 'What?' He was like, 'Nah, you ain't just see what just happened?' And I was like, 'Yeah, we killed it. That's what just happened.'"

The full episode with Alicia Keys is expected to be released tonight.
