Kanye West and Drake reunited for a benefit concert for Larry Hoover Thursday night in Los Angeles. While the reunion of two of rap's biggest stars dominated the night, music fans also discussed the pricey merchandise which was designed with the help of Balenciaga's creative director Demna.
The collection included a hoodie ($200), baseball tee ($160), jumpsuit ($360), jeans in various washes ($400), and a hat ($60). Most of the pieces were presented in a light-blue color with the "Free Hoover" slogan and became available in the Amazon Fashion store for just 72 hours.
Despite the expensive prices and Kanye West's reputation for influencing fashion sales, reports claim the profits will not go towards charity. According to GQ, "While proceeds from ticket sales for the concert will reportedly benefit a number of criminal justice reform groups, profits from merch sales are not being earmarked for charity, a rep confirmed."
The stage, staff, security, and overall production of the "Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert" cost an estimated $10 million. Amazon Music also partnered with Kanye West to stream the event for free on Prime. In addition, fans were able to view the concert at select IMAX theaters.
Fans who ordered the merchandise will have to wait six to ten weeks for the items to be shipped.
