Earlier this year, it was reported that Nelly and his longtime girlfriend Shantel Jackson had broken up, which she addressed during a recent sit-down on The Real.
While speaking about her relationship with Nelly, Shantel revealed that as she was working on her business, Shoe Gummi, she had less time to go on the road with Nelly. During their time apart, Shantel explained that they weren't as close, and they decided to take a break from dating. Shantel added that she and Nelly agreed to see if their break "brought things full circle for us."
Back in July, Shantel first addressed rumors of their split when asked about Nelly, and she told an Instagram follower that they were "just friends." In late 2020, while competing on Dancing with the Stars, Nelly stated that he thought Shantel was "the one," and he later told ET that he was "working" on putting together an engagement.
