Remy Ma has never been one to shy away from competition in music, as the battle rapper-turned-pop success saw wins with records like “Lean Back,” “Conceited,” and more. Now, Remy has revealed she is launching an all-women battle rap league.

Remy spoke about the ‘Chrome 23’ league, saying why she thinks the move is necessary for the climate in music today. Remy revealed the name stands for “Chromosome 23” and talked about the impact she wants the league to have on rap.

“I just want all the women that have ever, you know, put their blood, sweat, and tears into this, that’s been doing this for years, to get a chance to really make some decent money,” said Remy. She continued saying, “Anybody that has anything negative to say or that feels like I’m trying to take somebody’s place or feels like I’m trying to step on somebody’s toes, y’all are more than welcome to donate to the cause.” Remy also noted that men would be allowed to come over to the league from time to time, saying, “Every dude that I’ve spoken to has been one hundred and fifty percent like yeah, ‘They should be getting what we’re getting,” she said. “It’s a female league but, ya know…the guys could come over. We’ll let them come over sometimes.”
