Bronx rapper Kay Flock was reportedly arrested Thursday for the Dec. 16 murder of Oscar Hernandez following a dispute inside of a Harlem barbershop, which was less than 500 feet away from a police station.

The incident allegedly occurred shortly before 10 a.m. when 24-year-old Hernandez was waiting to get a haircut. When the 18-year-old rapper entered the establishment, he reportedly asked Hernandez what he was looking at. The two men engaged in a verbal altercation after Hernandez went outside to confront Kay Flock, whose real name is Kevin Perez. According to investigators, Kay Flock ended up shooting Hernandez in the back and neck as the two men walked away from each other.

Hernandez was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators are still confirming what caused the initial confrontation. While Hernandez's family believes the incident was a case of mistaken identity, the police say the altercation may have been gang-related.

Kay Flock was beginning to buzz in the music industry as he appeared on "Not in the Mood" with Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign. He's also had a string of single releases in the past seven months, all of which have generated over 5 million YouTube views. The recent success culminated in the rapper signing a deal with Capitol Records this summer and releasing his debut project, The D.O.A. Tape.

Kay Flock is currently in custody and has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
