Police in Mobile, Alabama concluded their undercover prostitution sting Tuesday with the arrests of nine suspects.
In total, eight women and one man were arrested on prostitution charges. Another man was arrested as well, but he was booked on a drug possession charge. In recent weeks, local police have set up various roadblocks as the city's shootings and homicide rate have increased.
"It's important for the community and the citizens of Mobile to understand exactly what it is that we're doing," said Police Chief Paul Prine. "They need to be able to see the Mobile Police Department out in the community addressing violent crime. It is the street level type crimes in cases that really does lend themselves to the violent crimes. Most cases, more often than not, out in the community."

- David Patrick, 27, soliciting for the purpose of prostitution.
- Tonya Ison, 24, soliciting for the purpose of prostitution.
- Kristin Thompson, 41, soliciting for the purpose of prostitution and possession of marijuana in the second degree.
- Evelyn Partee, 32, soliciting for the purpose of prostitution and false reporting to a law enforcement officer (warrant).
