According to the Associated Press, the scheduled parole for Larry Demery, one of the two men convicted of killing Michael Jordan's father in 1993, was suddenly pulled this week.

Demery was approved for parole in August 2020 after completing the Mutual Agreement Parole Program, a scholastic program offered in prison to prepare inmates for life after prison. He was originally scheduled to be released on Aug. 6, 2023, but that was later pushed to 2024.

North Carolina Department of Public Safety spokesperson Greg Thomas didn't provide exact details on why Demery's parole was canceled, but he stated that parole can be canceled through the program if the inmate doesn't follow guidelines or violates behavior rules in prison. It was revealed that Demery would be reviewed again for parole on or about Dec. 15, 2023.
