It's been well documented that Vin Diesel hasn't always seen eye to eye with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The ripple effects of their rocky relationship spilled over to the filming of "The Fate of The Fast & Furious" back in 2016. Since then, Vin Diesel has been trying to make amends. In his own way.

During an interview with Men's Health Magazine, back in June, the leading actor and producer of the "Fast & Furious" franchise attributed their personal riff to the tough love that he heaped upon his co-star, in order to help him portray his on-camera role properly. 

"It was a tough character to embody, the Hobbs character," Diesel told Men's Health. "My approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be. As a producer to say, Okay, we're going to take Dwayne Johnson, who's associated with wrestling, and we're going to force this cinematic world, audience members, to regard his character as someone that they don't know -- Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks."

The 54-year-old actor followed that interview with an open-ended plea on Instagram to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson about rejoining the franchise for one last hurrah as the ten-part series reaches its epic conclusion. Saying the following.

"My little brother Dwayne... the time has come. The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes... but the time has come. Legacy awaits. I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love... but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny."

But nevertheless, Dawayne Johnson didn't take too kindly to the publicized plea, citing it as manipulative. In a recent interview with CNN, the former WWE wrestling champion made it clear that he was not going to budge from his stance on rejoining the famous production or his personal opinion of Vin Diesel.

"This past June, when Vin and I actually connected not over social media, I told him directly — and privately — that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return," said Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

The Rock added, "I didn't like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker's death. Leave them out of it. We had spoken months ago about this and came to a clear understanding. My goal all along was to end my amazing journey with this incredible 'Fast & Furious franchise with gratitude and grace." 

Only time will tell if fans of "The Fast Saga" will ever get to see Dominic Toretto and Luke Hobbs ride off into the sunset together or if the two actors who portray them in real life have become too jaded from one another to ever reconcile in time.
