2pac's half-sister, Sekyiwa Shakur, is all that remains of the late rapper's immediate family. After the passing of their mother, Afeni Shakur, Sekyiwa now finds herself engaged in a legal dispute over her family's finances. When 2pac passed in 1996, his mother gained control of his estate and when she died in 2016, their family friend/lawyer Tom Whalley took over as the financial proprietor.

According to reports, Sekyiwa Shakar has filed a lawsuit against Tom Whalley, because he is allegedly withholding money from her and using 2pac's music to make himself rich. This would be a conflict of interest, because not only is Tom Whalley the keeper of 2pac's estate, he has also appointed himself as the manager of Amaru Entertainment -- the family-owned record label responsible for releasing many of the rapper's posthumous albums.

"Whalley has already received more than $5.5 million that he has paid himself in the last five years through Amaru," Sekyikwa wrote. "It is clear that he has used and abused his powers as executor and special trustee of the estate and the trust to convert the personal property belonging to Sekyiwa as a piggy bank from which he has drawn substantial funds for his own benefit."

In an effort to refute Sekyiwa's statement, an attorney for the trust reiterated their stance stating that 2pac and his mother were huge supporters of Tom Whalley. Citing him as a long-time friend and the person that Afeni handpicked for the job upon her death.
