Former Death Row artist CPO Boss Hog aka Lil Nation passed away this week at the age of 52.

The Compton native was introduced to rap scene in the 1990s by NWA's MC Ren as the lead rapper of the group, CPO. In addition to himself, CPO included DJ Clarence "D.J. Train" Lars and producer Daron "Young D" Sapp.

After originally performing as Lil Nation in the group, the rapper -- whose real name is Vincent Edwards -- went solo and started calling himself CPO Boss Hogg, or just CPO for short. As a solo artist, CPO signed to Death Row and appeared on the soundtracks for Above The Rim and Murder Was The Case. Although he never released an album on the legendary label, he had his most recognized moment as a recording artist when he was featured on 2Pac's "Picture Me Rollin."

An official cause of death has not been revealed but the rapper chronicled his health challenges over the years, including surviving congenital heart failure.
