Former 16 and Pregnant star Jordan Cashmyer died at the age of 26, according to her family's statement on Sunday.
"Last night I received a call no parent ever wants," Jordan’s father, Dennis Cashmyer, wrote on Facebook. "My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old. Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER. Please keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy. Please understand and respect our privacy at this time. We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, grand daughter Lyla and family members."
Jordan Cashmyer appeared on the MTV series in 2014 with her then-boyfriend, Derek Taylor. While on 16 and Pregnant, Jordan Cashmyer chronicled her struggles with unemployment and homelessness due to her parent's disapproval of her relationship with Taylor.
Following her appearance on the MTV reality show, Jordan also had a public battle with substance abuse. She checked into rehab in 2014 and was arrested for drug possession in 2017. In January 2021, she celebrated one year of sobriety.
An official cause of death has not yet been announced.
